Placing a Shortcut to a Commonly Used Folder or File
 in Windows Explorer using Windows XP


If you find yourself opening the same folder or file in a program like MS Excel or Word or any program on your computer for that matter day after day, you may not realize how much time your wasting every day in the navigation effort.

Here's how to become much more efficient by having a shortcut on your opening always available to you.  Follow these steps and "hunt" no more:

1.)  Open the program you are using. 

2.)  Open a file to access the "Open" dialogue box as shown below. We want the Adobe PDF folder to be placed on the "Look in:" shortcut pane.

 

 

   

3.)  Select the Adobe PDF folder  using one left mouse click as shown below, release the left mouse button and move the mouse to the white area below the "My Network Places" on the "Look in:" pane and right click revealing the dialogue box shown in the diagram below:

4.)  One left click and you're done!  With the shortcut in the "Look in:" pane as shown below a right click again in the "Look in:" pane will allow you to reorder the stack.  The completed job looks like that below:
